If you’re eyeing at a reputed MBA college in India, chances are that you appeared or are preparing for the NMAT exam. Conducted by the Graduate Management Admission Council, NMAT is one of the largest admission tests accepted by top MBA colleges in India.
About the Test
This test is designed to measure the skills of MBA aspirants as desired by the multitude of Management colleges worldwide. In India, 30+ colleges accept NMAT scores for admissions. The list includes names like SVKM’s Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, SPJIMR, and Xavier University.
The test has 3 sections:
- Language Skills
- Quantitative Skills
- Logical Reasoning
There are 120 questions divided into the three sections and the exam lasts for 120 minutes. NMAT not only tests proficiency in these three domains but also your speed.
NMAT 2019 was conducted between October 4 and December 17 at multiple test dates. The results of which will be available by the third week of January 2020.
A downloadable scorecard will be available by 31st March 2020.
The test scorecard will contain a section-wise breakdown of the scores. Quant contains a maximum of 144 marks, Language 96 and Logical Reasoning weighs 120 marks. Therefore, the total marks amount to 360.
The results are reported in two ways:
Scaled Report – As each candidate gets randomly selected questions in their test from a pool of questions, the test score of each candidate is compared with every other candidate. This is done to judge the fairness and difficulty of the exam.
Final Percentile: At the end of the year, NMAT declares the final percentile calculated against all the test takers for that year. This is reflected in the scorecard sent to the schools and the one that you get.
When will the exam Results be available?
Although the scores will be declared by the 3rd week of January 2020, the scorecard downloads will be done by 31st March 2020. An email intimation will be sent to all the test takers, prompting them to download the scorecard.
The card will contain all the necessary metrics you need to know about your result. You can estimate as to which college to apply to base on the initial result. The full scorecard acts as proof that you appeared for NMAT.
How to Download the NMAT Result scorecard?
To download the NMAT result scorecard, you’ll need to login to your NMAT account at nmat.org.in. The website will contain all the necessary details about downloading your scorecard.
Use the same credentials you used to download the admit card i.e. your registration number and password. You can take a print of the scorecard and make sure all the details are fine. This print will come handy throughout the admission procedure.
FAQs about NMAT Exam and Results
Is NMAT a pen and paper exam or online?
NMAT is a completely computer-delivered examination conducted at an exam centre where the exam is scheduled. The candidates have to fill in the answers in a virtual test environment displayed on the computer screens. NMAT doesn’t have a pen and paper alternative.
How are 120 minutes distributed among the three sections?
NMAT has a fixed division of time among the three sections which are as follows:
- Language Skills – 22 minutes
- Quantitative Skills – 60 minutes
- Logical Reasoning – 38 minutes
The candidate needs to complete each section in the given time frame. If they complete all the questions before the given time, the remaining time can’t be used for other sections.
Candidates should also review all the questions within the given time, no extra time is given for review questions.
Can I send my test results to more than 5 schools?
Yes. By default, candidates can send their test scores to 5 schools which is part of the test fee. In case, you wish to send to more than 5 schools, you can do so by paying an amount of 200 + taxes to NMAT, and they’ll arrange for the same.
I gave multiple attempts, which exam scores are valid?
Candidates with multiple attempts will have the choice to send the scores to multiple schools but the acceptance depends on the school. The candidate would want to use the test scores with the best outcome but the acceptance depends upon the school.
